What makes Hollywood Road the best foodie destination in Hong Kong?
When you think of Hollywood Road, you would not think of it as a ‘foodie haunt’, per say. There are a lot of incredible things to do on. From the mural paintings to the Man Mo Temple or the revitalised Tai Kwun, it definitely lives up to the hype of being Hong Kong finest hipster, art-and-culture hub.
However, it has proved to be one of the best foodie destinations in Hong Kong.
Some History – Hong Kong Hollywood Road
Hollywood road was the second road to be built when the colony was founded, but it was actually the first to be completed. When it was first built more than a century ago, the road used to be by the ocean. Merchants would sell antiques and collector items they brought from China. Thus, it was how Hollywood Road became known as the antique market.
An Unlikely Food Star – Landmark in Central Hong Kong
Still possessing its colonial glamour, Hollywood Road is a landmark in Central. It is a hidden haven of modern art galleries and antique shops, and its backdrop of the busy commerce centre also adds to its charms.
It is a perfect blend of a tourist attraction, expatriate haunt, and local favourite. Hollywood Road is hands-down the best place to set up a flagship restaurant or a bold F&B concept store.
Because of its versatility, Hollywood Road is home to a lot of amazing restaurants and eateries that can satisfy any foodie. From fine dining to the local BBQ pork, there is no limit to the surprise this street has to offer.
Here are a handful of our favourite F&B shops on Hollywood Road.
Tom Dixon x Nodi
An upstairs coffee shop overlooking the bustling Hollywood Road, Tom Dixon x Nodi embodies more than a pursuit of interior design, but a thirst for high-quality coffee. With a flagship restaurant in this Central hipster area, Tom Dixon definitely made a statement.
