How likely would a new venture into eSports by K11 usher changes to f&b operators running their business in shopping malls?
Not long ago in the Lacrucci Q&A section, we received an inquiry about the chance of opening a restaurant in Hong Kong’s shopping mall, our advice to the restaurant operator is that mall owners are very selective since they are looking for the right tenants who can fit into their unique brand and style.
Citing K11 as an example. it is a cultural brand leader and entrepreneur of shopping malls. It began to infuse cultural and arts elements in its retail landscape since 2008. A week ago, it has made foray into fledgling eSports sector.
K11 pairs with Hero Entertainment 英雄互娛
Mr. Adrian Cheng is the architect of brand K11, which takes art and commerce together to form a “K11 business model” by creating a museum retail concept, offices and residences in Greater China. The concept is to bring in the force of human, nature, and art to sustainable life styles
Mr Cheng is also the Executive Vice-chairman and Joint General Manager of Hong Kong-based New World Development.
Under the partnership, the Hero Pro League, one of the continent’s largest mobile e-sports competitions, and other animation, comic, game and novel franchises, will appear at the projects.
The brand mall will also host Hero Entertainment’s Hero Pro League to its projects in at least nine cities: Hong Kong, Beijing, Shenzhen, Shenyang, Wuhan, Ningbo, Tianjin, Shanghai and Guangzhou.
Lacrucci notices that both K11 and Hero Entertainment are opening up a new platform, a new perspective for everyone of us. We should be more aware of the changes of customer profile in the future.
We will be facing a new breed of customers who feed on new technology and science, mentally dream on virtual world while physically remain in the real world. Not to our surprise, they will speak different language like Jedi.
K11 Art Mall f&b restaurants will be beneficial
While hosting large-scale, international esports competitions in K11 Hong Kong venues, K11 Art Mall is expected to attract more business for her shopping and dinning shops.
To fit into her tenant list, restaurants and cafe operators should be more creative in running their f&b business to match up with them. Perhaps you should start thinking of high tech look design for your restaurants; or mobile suits for your waiters and waitress, etc.
How fast you can shift your gear to keep up with the changes? That will determine your qualification to stay in the future malls.
