Many LKF Nightclubs Bars suspended operations voluntarily until further notice since 23rd March. Suddenly, all night entertainment activities in Central have stopped. What’s happened?
Just to name few famous nightclubs and bars which have joined the closure spree – Dragon-i, PLAY, Zentro, Tasmania Ballroom and Level2 Nightclub.
In addition, temporary closure of nightclubs and bars are not only confined to Lan Kwai Fong, but also spread to all around Central. We have never seen this in Hong Kong nightlife scene!
What Causes LKF Nightclubs Bars to Suspend Operation?
In fact, suspended operations are due to various reasons. Actually, Hong Kong should have contained the virus spread at the beginning. However, infected cases has spiked to around 400 in recent two weeks.
Unfortunately, a number of infected patients have ever visited bars, restaurants and fitness centres in Lan Kwai Fong. Even worse, some of them are restaurant owner, staff or musical performers in bars.
In the past week, we have seen more eateries, bars as well as nightclubs in LKF to suspend operations.
Few days ago, Hong Kong announced to ban alcohol sales in restaurants and bars. It has caused many nightclubs and bars in LKF to cease operation immediately.
Although the government has not passed the mandate yet, the virus fear has put to a halt of nightlife activities in Hong Kong.
Which LKF Nightclubs Bars have suspended operation?
Never happened before, many nightclubs and bars in Lan Kwai Fong have suspended operation this week. Then the closing spree has spread around other areas in Central.
As a result, almost all came to a temporary shut down until further notice. It’s so unprecedented indeed!
Since 23rd March, the date when HK government announced the plan to ban alcohol sales in FB venues, Dragon-i, Tasmania Ballroom and Cassio have started to suspend operation.
Without a doubt, Dragon-i has led the clubbing scene in Hong Kong as well as Asia. Regular clubbers in Dragon-i include models, expats and social media celebrities. Apparently, Dragon-i is a must-go spot for nightlife goers.
Apart from Dragon-i, Bungalow and Solas in the Centrium have also closed until further notice.
Furthermore, other popular nightclubs in LKF have jumped into the wagon of temporary closure. Namely, Level2 and PLAY in On Hing Building, as well as Zentro in California Tower.
Impact on LKF Restaurants by virus spread
Among all, Black Sheep have announced temporary closure of two restaurants in Lan Kwai Fong. One is Buenos Aires Polo Club, whereas another one is Carbone.
As in a note by Black Sheep Restaurants to customers:
“even with the strictest protocols in place, it was just a matter of time before someone has contracted COVID-19 would come through our doors. That was now happened at Buenos Aires Polo Club.”
Also, Black Sheep chose to close Carbone, which is in the same building of Buenos Aires Polo Club. Even though the infected customer did not visit there.
