More about Amoy Street

Amoy Street (廈門街) is a street in Wan Chai, Hong Kong. It connects Johnston Road in the north and Queen’s Road East in the south.

Amoy means Xiamen, a coastal city in Eastern part of China. Buildings on the street are mainly walk-up low rise buildings. A cul-de-sac with steps at the end on Queen’s Road East.

The Street was used as warehouse site which was brought by MacVicar & Co. Prior to that, there was once a pier named Burn’s Pier and a sugar refinery.

Amoy Street is part of a planned urban renewal scheme in Wan Chai called Lee Tung Avenue. It is now completed with luxury residential units and a pedestrian street with shops and restaurants on both sides.

After completion of Lee Tung renewal scheme, more traffic is drawn to streets around. Amoy Street is one of the closest streets to gain from this environmental change.

A number of restaurants and bars have their operations on Amoy Street. Due to limited site size of low-rise buildings, most of the F&B shops there are comparatively small. Yet prefect for takeaway shops, cosy restaurants or chic bars.

La Rotisserie is a traditional French chicken takeaway. It has three branches in Hong Kong Island. Apart from Wan Chai, two others are located in Sheung Wan and Sai Ying Pun.

RoundHouse Taproom is a bar selling craft beer and chicken. Its first bar is located on Peel Street of Central. Featuring a wide selection of craft beers and Texas style BBQ food.

Chao Chao Gyoza is a restaurant selling signature dumpling. First to Hong Kong from Japan . During lunch and dinner time, it is fully packed inside with a queue waiting outside for takeaway.
