More about Hollywood Road

Hollywood Road (荷李活道) is a street covering Central and Sheung Wan on Hong Kong Island.

The street runs between Central and Sheung Wan, with Wyndham Street, Arbuthnot Road, Ladder Street, Upper Lascar Row and Old Bailey Street in the vicinity.

Hollywood Road was the second road to be built when the colony of Hong Kong was found, after Queen’s Road Central was completed.

It was traditionally an artistic landmark with gallaries and Chinese antique shops. The first gallery to open was Plum Blossoms in 1987.

Man Mo Temple of Man Mo Miu (文武廟), one of the oldest temples in Hong Kong, is located at Hollywood Road. Built in 1847.

The Temple is a picturesque tribute to the God of Literature (Man) and the God of War (Mo), both of whom were worshipped students looking to succeed in examinations.

Central Police Station was the first police station in Hong Kong, which was located on the beginning of Hollywood Road.

The Central Police Station accompanied by the formal Central Magistry and Victoria Prison form a group of historical architectures representing law and order in Hong Kong.

Kung Lee is a herbal tea shop on Hollywood Road selling sugarcane juice and Chinese herbal tea for about 70 years. It has witnessed the changes of restaurant and bar scenes on Hollywood Road.

For Kee Restaurant(科記) is another old Hong Kong restaurant tucked behind Hollywood Road. It is famous of pork chop buns and fried rice.

Its charm and character are drawing more and more stylish restaurants and bars to Hollywood Road and its vicinity.
