More about Lan Kwai Fong
Lan Kwai Fong (蘭桂坊) is a small square of streets in Central, Hong Kong. The area was before dedicated to floral hawkers. It is now an expatriate and tourist haunt for drinking, clubbing and foodie spot in Hong Kong.
Lan Kwai Fong is defined as an L-shaped area by D’Aguilar Street and a small lane called Lan Kwai Fong. A cobble-stoned lane. Both streets turn 90 degrees to form a rectangle. Wo On Lane and Wing Wah Lane on the west side extend to host more spots for restaurants and bars.
Lan Kwai Fong is one of the landmarks in Hong Kong for special occasions. The crowds during Halloween and New Year’s Eve put the place at a complete standstill. Police control is required to manage the crowds.
A whole chapter of Lan Kwai Fong was written after California Entertainment building and California Tower were demolished. A new California Tower is revamped into F&B and lifestyle tenant’s mix building.
Starred chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten goes upstairs in California Tower for his first restaurant called Mercato.
Ore-no Kappou, headed by starred chefs Hidetsugu Okamato and Hiroshi Shimada, is also operating upstairs in California Tower.
