More about Hollywood Road

Hollywood Road (荷李活道) is a street covering Central and Sheung Wan on Hong Kong Island. It was traditionally an artistic landmark with galleries and Chinese antique shops.

Hollywood Road was the second road to be built when the British colony of Hong Kong was founded, after Queen’s Road Central. The Man Mo Temple (文武廟), one of the oldest temples in Hong Kong, is located at Hollywood Road since 1847.

The Man Mo Temple is a picturesque tribute to the God of Literature (Man) and the God of War (Mo), both of whom were worshiped students (actually more by parents) looking to succeed in examinations. A must go spot for tourists.

Hollywood Road is well known for its unique selection of stylish restaurants, discreet bars and cafes.

Bibo, a fine dining restaurant, combining arts and food, is now located on Hollywood Road, which was the first restaurant to be set up in Hong Kong by a fast-expanding French restaurant group.

Other F&B groups also actively put their flags on Hollywood Road. Italian eatery 208 Duecento Otto and ChaChaWan (Thai Restaurant) are operated by JIA Group.

Vicky Lau, a celebrity female chef, has moved her Tate Dining Room from Elgin Street (Soho Central) to Hollywood Road.

Mrs. Pound, a “speakeasy” fusion food restaurant is also hidden back on Pound Lane which is steps away from Hollywood Road.

Another gem restaurant could be For Kee Restaurant ( 科记) which is located behind Hollywood Road, at the corner of Tai Ping Shan Street and Pound Lane.

For Kee is one of the oldest restaurants in Sheung Wan. One of the best restaurants in Hong Kong to sell pork chop rice and buns too.
