More about Queen’s Road Central
Queen’s Road Central (皇后大道中) is a road running from Central to Sheung Wan in Hong Kong.
It was one of the first roads, along with Hollywood Road to be built by the British in old Hong Kong days.
Queen’s Road Central intersects with the similarly named Queen’s Victoria Street, a short street perpendicular to the road and leads to a few blocks away from the IFC.
At the western end of Queen’s Road Central, the road name changes into Queen’s Road West.
When Hong Kong was occupied by the Japanese Empire from 1942 to 1945, Queen’s Road Central was once renamed Meiji-dori, after Emperor Meiji, by the Japanese occupation government.
Queen’s Road Central has become an icon of the British colony of Hong Kong. It’s also the CBD of Hong Kong, with all multinational bank quarters located along the road.
Amber is a Two Michelin Star French restaurant in Mandarin Oriental on Queen’s Road Central. It’s listed as the “World’s 50 Best Restaurant in 2017.
Law Fu Kee (羅富記粥麵專家) is a Chinese noodle and congee shop on Queen’s Road Central. Congee with pig’s liver is its signature congee. Don’t miss its deep-fried fish ball too!
