More about Staunton Street

Staunton Street (士丹頓街) is a street in Central, Hong Kong.

Together with the upper section of Elgin Street, it is the heart of the Soho entertainment area, featuring a number of restaurants, bars and clubs.

The street runs on the hilly contour. It crosses or has junctions with Graham Street, Peel Street, Elgin Street and Aberdeen Street.

The Central-Mid-levels escalator (so called Soho escalator) bisects Staunton Street. Its opening in 1994 brought rapid change to the streets and around.

Improved accessibility by the escalator also brought increased traffic and life to Soho Central and hence more number of F&B shops there.

Staunton Street is a must-go foodie and drinking paradise in Soho Central by tourists, expatriates and hipsters.

Prominent F&B groups started to set up their flagship restaurants and bars in Soho Central more than 10 years ago.

Staunton’s Wine Bar & Café by Staunton’s Group is voted as “best people watching spot” in Hong Kong. Its iconic venue on the corner of Staunton Street is one not to miss. People like to gather outside the bar, enjoy their beers and chit-chat with friends.

Jaspas by Castelo Concepts has moved from Elgin Street to Stauntion Street few years ago. Its open seating dining room works perfect around the seasons in Hong Kong. It is definitely a spot to watch and to be watched.

A number of small but chic restaurants are also located on Staunton Street. So happened, two outstanding Asia’s Best Female chefs have their first restaurants on Staunton Street.

Vicky Lau is the head chef of starred restaurant Tate Dining Room and Bar, which was formerly located on Staunton Street. It is now relocated to a bigger venue on Hollywood Road. In 2015, she was named as the Best Female Chef in Asia.

May Chow has got the name of Asia’s Best Female Chef 2017. Her restaurant Little Bao also set its scene on Staunton Street.
