More about Staunton Street

Staunton Street (士丹頓街) is a street in Central, Hong Kong. Together with the upper section of Elgin Street, it is the heart of the Soho entertainment area, featuring a number of restaurants, bars and clubs. The street runs on the hilly contour.

It crosses or has junctions with Graham Street, Peel Street, Elgin Street and Aberdeen Street. The Central-Mid-levels escalator (so called Soho escalator) bisects Staunton Street.

Its opening in 1994 brought rapid change to the street and its neigbourhood. Improved accessibility by the escalator also brought increased traffic and life to Soho Central as well as more number of F&B shops.

Staunton Street is a must-go foodie and drinking paradise in Soho Central for tourists, expatriates and hipsters. Prominent F&B groups started to set up their flagship restaurants and bars in the area more than 10 years ago.

Staunton’s Wine Bar & Café by Staunton’s Group is voted as “best people watching spot” in Hong Kong.

Its iconic venue on the corner of Staunton Street is one not to miss. Just next to the escalator. People like to gather outside the bar, sip their beers and chit-chat with friends.

Jaspas by Castelo Concepts moved from Elgin Street to Stauntion Street few years ago. Still staying at Soho Central.

Its open seating restaurant design works perfect around all seasons in Hong Kong. A spot to watch and to be watched too.
