More about Observatory Road

Observatory Road (天文臺道) is a road in Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong.

It is one of the oldest roads in Hong Kong since 1883. It is named because this is where the Hong Kong Observatory was located at there.

The Observatory is still in operation and providing updated typhoon information and other services for the Northwest Pacific area.

Observatory Road is about 200 meters in length. Despite is relatively short length, it is a significant historical area in Kowloon Peninsula.

Some buildings are old Hong Kong days still stand alongside the newer imposing structures of modern Kowloon.

Observatory Road runs up and down hills on the Observatory Hill.

It is connected with Chatham Road South at one end, where is about 10 minutes’ walk to Hunghom train station, where train service is provided from Hong Kong to Guangzhou, China.
