Wood Road (活道) is a street in Wan Chai, Hong Kong.
It intersects with Queen’s Road East, Burrows Street, Cross Street and Wan Chai Road.
Wood Road was named after John Roskruge Wood, a government official of Hong Kong.
From 1937 to 1950s, the Government Trade School was located on Wood Road. It was named as Hong Kong Technical College in 1957 and relocated to Hong Hom where it later became Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
Vocational Training Council (VTC) is the largest vocational education, training and professional development group in employment is also located on Wood Road.
Imperial Theatre was once a cinema located on the junction of Burrows Road and Wood Road. It was demolished in 2004. A signage of Imperial Theatre is now standing as a wall décor in Pacific Coffee at the same site.
Wood Road is a homage to Hong Kong style authentic cuisines. A number of takeaway shops selling local street food are opening around the clocks on Wood Road. Customers are used to stand on street to finish their street food.
Old Bazaar Kitchen, a Southeast Asian restaurant, was once closed in Wan Chai. It is now reopened into a bigger and modern place on Wood Road. Local F&B tycoon Peter Lam is the man behind to support the reopening.
Peter Chan set up several renowned Restaurants on Wood Road in the shop spaces of Oakhill, a residential development by Peter’s Lai Sun Group.
Wagyu Takimi is one of his starred restaurants under his F&B group. This Japanese restaurant blends the finest French culinary traditions with Japanese ingredients. The food in Waggu Takimi is beautifully presented.
Wagyu Takimi is now under renovation in previous location of Gin Sai. We are looking forward to see the look of this charming Japanese restaurant on Wood Road.
Rozan is also under Lai Sun F&B Group. It is an elegant little Japanese restaurant offering daily-changing omakase menu. 12 seats only at a L-shaped counter. A starred restaurant in Hong Kong too.
